African Contestants:Miss World 2012

Miss World 2012 opening ceremony and live concert will be July 24th, and will also be showing all of the highlights as part of the grand finale on the 18th August before the main show begins.40,000 are expected to attend the event at the brand new Dongsheng stadium in Ordos to watch many of China’s leading stars join an international cast in welcoming the Miss World contestants to Ordos, Inner Mongolia
Below are the African beauties proudly carrying their respective countries’ flag high with hopes of taking the title of Miss World 2012 back home.Competition is tight as all the girls are beautiful and ambitious…….Will you be watching the finale?

Angola:Edmilza Nicosia Mota SANTOS Age:21
Edmilza is currently at University studying psychology. Hobbies include: Walking, dance and fashion. Edmilza loves seafood and the great outdoors: Her personal motto is: ‘respect nature’. She describes herself as a great communicator

Botswana:Tapiwa Anna-Marie PRESTON Age:19
Tapiwa is from Gaborone and is at university studying psychology and sociology. She describes herself as a calm, driven, cooperative person and a quick learner. Her hobbies include swimming and painting and she is classically trained in ballet.

Cote D’Ivoire:Hadjau Helene-Valerie DJOUKA Age:18
Hadjau is currently in her first year studying law, and would like to become a lawyer. She describes herself as a jovial, kind, sincere and natural person, and her personal motto is ‘hard work is the key to success’. Her interests include
music, jogging, travelling and fashion.

Jennifer is from Malabo and is in her third year studying law. She enjoys travelling, basketball and learning about new cultures. She hopes to one day work in politics and describes herself as having a fun and friendly personality who likes people

Ethiopia:Melkam ENDALE Age:21
Melkam is currently a university student hoping to change the image of her home country. Melkam’s favourite books are the Harry Potter series and she enjoys writing poems and playing football in her spare time. Melkam’s personal motto is: ‘Everything happens for a reason.

Gabon:Marie Noelle ADA MEYO Age:22
Marie is a student from Libreville and she would like to one day work with helping the elderly. In her spare time she enjoys cycling, surfing and singing, and she says her favourite food is a local dish called manioc.

Kenya:Shamim Fauz ALI Age:18
Shamim grew up in Mombasa and is studying architecture. She aspires to become a designer and describes herself as a hard-working and caring person. She enjoys swimming, reading and playing netball and basketball.

Lesotho:Nomazondo Veronica MPHAKISOANE Age:24
Nomazondo is a business management student from Maseru and would like to become a chartered accountant. She loves poetry and describes herself as a competitive person. She says her favourite foods are traditional dishes, and in her spare time she enjoys reading and dancing.

Malawi:Susan MTEGHA Age:24
Susan is a student and hopes to work toward attaining a PhD in information
technology. She describes herself as a people’s person who is very hard-working, friendly and passionate. Her interests include reading, netball,fashion design and dancing.

Mauritius:Shalini Devi PANCHOO Age:23
Shalini is studying for a Masters degree in Communication and describes herself as being a determined and courageous person. She enyoys dancing, swimming and listening to music. She likes Chinese and traditional Mauritian food. Her personal motto is ‘determination leads to success’.

Sherlyn describes herself as an outgoing, down-to-earth person. She enjoys organising children’s parties, swimming, hiking and dancing. She says her proudest moment was graduating from the Seychelles Tourism Academy.

Vanessa describes herself as a loving and caring person and is currently in the 2nd year of her degree. She grew up in Freetown, and her interests include

Remona works as a business analyst having graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. She describes herself as an ambitious, dynamic and creative person. Her interests include embroidery, fishing, squash and tennis, and she says her favourite food is anything cooked by her mother.

Bongani is from Bulawayo and is studying development studies at university. In her spare time she enjoys travelling, netball and reading novels. She describes herself as an open-minded, considerate, kind and outgoing person, and says her favourite food is macaroni cheese.
